Conservation rebinding on: Hermann Moll, The World Described: or, a New and Correct Sett of Maps, London, 1709-1720.
The original damaged binding was too worn to reuse, and was therefore discarded. The maps were washed and re-sized, then hinged on guards and resewn on seven double cords. Back bead linen endbands. The cords were laced into new boards, and the atlas was covered with brown calfskin and tooled in a facsimile of the original binding.
