Conservation treatment of: Winthrop Sargent, The Life and Career of Major John Andre, New York, 1902. Extra illustrated copy.
Condition:
This full leather trade binding had gilt decoration and titling. The upper board was loose. The lower joint is worn but the board is still attached.
Conservation Treatment:
A heavyweight kozo paper hinge was adhered to the shoulder using wheat starch paste.
The binding was joint tacketed using 18/3 linen thread.
Thin red goatskin was onlaid onto the outer joints of both boards.
There were color touchups of the boards using acrylic pigment.
