JAMES REID-CUNNINGHAM

BOOKBINDING & CONSERVATION LLC

This single tray enclosure features pierced vellum decoration and a magnetic closure.

The box holds a rare volume on angling: R. G. Allerton, Brook Trout Fishing, Perris & Browne, New York, 1869.

A symmetrical pattern was chosen as suitable to the Victorian period of the book.

The brownish red acrylic pigment on the boards was inspired by the actual coloring of the underside of a trout’s fins, as seen in a folded print in the book.

The boards were covered with sheep parchment after the design was punched and cut.

The box was titled in gold on the spine.
